B. Pharmacy
A Bachelor of Pharmacy (Abbreviated B Pharm) is an undergraduate four year academic degree in the field of pharmacy. The degree is the basic prerequisite for registration to practice as a pharmacist in any country and it deals with understanding the properties and impacts of medicines and drug delivery systems, also developing the skills required to counsel patients about safe and efficacious use of the medicines. Pharmacy is the science and technique of preparing and dispensing drugs. It is a health profession that links health sciences with chemical sciences and aims to ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical drugs. The scope of pharmacy practice includes more traditional roles such as compounding and dispensing medications, and it also includes more modern services related to health care, including clinical services, reviewing medications for safety and efficacy, and providing drug information. Pharmacists, therefore, are the experts on drug therapy and are the primary health professionals who optimize use of medication for the benefit of the patients. This course covers health related subjects like Biochemical science, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Bio chemistry, Pharmaceutical Math’s & Biostatistics, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.
After the completion of this course, the students can practice as a Pharmacist in hospitals, Government Dispensaries or Private Firms. Also they can start their own practice as a Pharmacist. Pharmacists practice in a variety of areas including community pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, extended care facilities, psychiatric hospitals, and regulatory agencies. Pharmacists themselves may have expertise in a medical specialty. Also Pharmacy graduates can work in pharmaceutical companies in different department like Packing Marketing, QC (Quality control) Production etc. If they wants to study further in pharmacy industry, they can pursue for master of pharmacy (M.Pharm), M.S or MBA , Pharm D after completion of B.Pharm.
