Department of Pharmacology
Pharmacology is a new biomedical discipline that applied the principles of scientific experimentation to therapeutic contexts. The scope of pharmacology is rapidly expanding for the discovery, development and provides the rational basis for the therapeutic uses of new drugs. It involves study of chemical properties, biological effects, molecular mechanisms and therapeutic uses of drugs. Pharmacological studies emphasize effects of chemical agents upon subcellular mechanisms, to those that deal with the potential hazards of pesticides and herbicides, to those that focus on the treatment and prevention of major diseases by drug therapy. The scope of pharmacology has expanded exponentially over the last decade to incorporate many new approaches such as computer-assisted drug design, genetic screens and protein engineering.
The department is constituted of two UG labs one is Human Anatomy and Physiology and second is Pharmacology Lab. HAP lab has various kind of lab facilities with proper adequate equipments to study about Blood Pressure monitoring, Blood Groups identification, Normal blood hemoglobin checking, Normal R.B.C and W.B.C count and study of different human models.
In pharmacology lab focus is on the study of effects of various drugs on human body and software is used to observe the activity of drugs, potency of drugs and adverse effects of drugs animal model. The pharmacology laboratories are well equipped with various sophisticated equipments like:
- Compound Microscope
- Haemoglobinometers
- Haemocytometers
- Blood Pressure Apparatus
- Stethoscope
